I love making things easy for me. Easy should not mean blasé though. One project I started this year is to make a yearly book of menus. I decided to do 6 weeks of menus for each season based on what we eat around here. This is week two of my Winter Menus
We do eat meat as you can see but I do try to not eat a ton of it. So two menus typically will be vegetarian. I also am trying to have more seafood and I am a big fan of Seafood watch. You can check out the best seafood choices for your state here.

When it’s not raining this is what late winter looks like here. It also looks like loads of coffee and tea while I do that woman thing of trying to do to much. This is particular to this season though. As I have progressed with living a really intentional life, I have fallen much more in the rhythms of the seasons.
Winter finds me snuggled down in a cozy chair with a books and journals. As the world spins towards spring the energy shifts and everything is waking up. I think of myself more like a circus performer balancing on a ball, balancing a bunch of stuff on my nose and head and juggling.
Work is intense this time of year for me and the garden needs all the attention of a newborn. Longer days stretch in front of me with the promise of you can do it all just have one more cup of tea.
I haven’t written here in so long. I have ideas and thoughts tumbling around in my head but like so many people life just takes over at times. A day goes by then another, and before you know it weeks and years have passed. I am not sure if a full year has passed but thought maybe today would be a good day to stop by, and say hi.
It is almost spring in my part of the world. The plum tree is in full bloom and the garden beds need some attention. I like the feeling of energy in the air as winter melts into spring with impossibly blue skies one day and rain the next.

This afternoon I was driving home after picking up Little, and movement across a field caught my eye. A cyotoe was shaking it’s head in a vigorous fashion. The way a dog will shake off water. This lasted no more then a split second but the lesson was immediate.
Two things you should know before we really get into this. First the coyote is viewed as a trickster by many folk traditions. The second is that I love coyotes. They speak to me on all levels. I realize that many humans do not care for them, and find it strange the amount of affection I have for them. My neighbor, to use an recent example, was telling me I should get a deer fence to keep all the wildlife off our property. “Keep the dear and those damed coyotes out”. I wonder about people who move to the country and then want to keep all of nature out but that is another story.
Lets get back to the lesson

We all know the parse you have to shake it off. Meaning get over it and move on but what does it mean when a coyote is telling us to shake it off?
What are you paying attention to that is not really important? What have you been tricked in to believing (by someone else or you) that you are responsible for? What are you being tricked into spending your time and energy on (again either by you or by someone else) that really is not part of your purpose? What are you telling yourself as excuse for why you are not living the life you want?

Shake it off!
Little and I worked on this project the other day. First she separated and sorted all of the bands by color. Then we used Youtube to find out how to make the bracelet and then we went out to the laundry line to find a clothes pin.
We were about half way done here, and it occurred to me that this would be a great little protection trinket.

I have been meaning to share this for a few days but the cold/ sickness has gotten the best of me. So here it is. I sometimes worry that all the fun little details will be lost in the hustle and bustle of life. We will do something have a marvelous time and then months or weeks or even sadly days later we have moved on and forgotten the enjoyment. So I covered an old coffee tin (my tins are actually cardboard) and wrote on it “If you’re happy and you know it write it down” I stuck it on our side board in our dinning room next to some pens and added a pad of paper. Little has now added a plethora of bright-colored post it notes there too.
The plan is to daily or as often as we think of it. To write what is making us happy. what we are grateful for and pop the note in the jar.
This goes beyond the family though as I am encouraging guests to use it as well. I plan to look at them and read them aloud on new years eve.
