Poppy’s Pagan Planning Imbolc

Source: via Poppy on Pinterest

ah Sunday. Time for another session of Poppy’s Pagan Planning.

I had mentioned in my last Poppy’s Pagan Planning post that I thought I would make Quiche and salad. I like Quiche not just because of the egg and dairy seem very in tune with Imbolc, but also the roundness of it reminds me of the wheel of the year. So other than salad other round things like rolls or a round Irish Soda bread

And of course I did say salad. how about I a nice spinach salad with poppy seed dressing?

of course it is traditional to make a Brigid’s Cross as it is Her day.

You may also want to work on some poetry to be read at your circle or Altar. Perhaps even a chant to say over you cross as yo make it. This is also a good time to have a bardic circle (or party) Invite folks over to sing a song or recite a poem or story. You can do this with kids too and have them make up little songs. Even do this around the dinner table. lots of fun and if you don’t want to make up a new song or poem you can learn and recite a traditional story.
Another activity to do with kids or the young at heart.

and you can find the full instructions and list of what you need here.

For those of you with out a fireplace but wanting a hearth I love this

and these are beautiful to me. If I lived where there was snow (which clearly I don’t) I would put the twigs in the vases and then put the snow in around and on top of them and then a floating candle on the top. Watch the snow melt as the candle burns.

of course I don’t live where it snows so I will be making something like this

From Annaboo’s house because the lace gives me the feeling of snow.

I hope this gave you some good ideas to print out and keep in your Book of Days.

Friday Five- Things I love for Father’s Day

In honor of Fathers day here are some gifts that I love for the hubs. The pictures are links so click, click, click away.

Dad Rocks Paperweight by Amanda Formaro

I think this is adorable. Is salt dough and rocks. I think it would be equally adorable in some type of concrete as a stepping stone for the garden.  That might happen next year but we will see. If you like this one the directions are on the original post.

Whimsical Kids Canvas Father's Day Grill Apron

Another adorable gift and the link also has several other gift ideas.  Personally I think my hubby would be so proud to wear this.

Fathers Day Gift - DIY Child's Handprint Tree - Printable pdf

This is a gift you can buy from Etsy. Now if I had my self together I might have done this one. Maybe I will draw a trunk and let little hand paint some. This might be a really nice gift for grandpa.

A back to my hubby. He is an expert on the grill. He honestly makes the best steaks ever. When I have a steak at a steak house I say well this are half as good as yours, or almost as good of He loves ribs. One of his favorite meals and so I will be making these from Octoberfarm. Served with some kind of potato. Grown and made with love by our Little.

Another favorite of my hubby is apple pie. It is hands down his favorite and so he will get to enjoy this and I am sure it will be one of his favorite parts of his day.

What do you have planned for celebration?

Mother’s Day gift

I was waiting in hopes that I would give this to my mom before she received my post via email on what she is getting but alas that seems to not be in the cards.

lemon-sugar-scrub 6wm cover_thumb[3]

Ever since I saw this on Pinterest I knew I had to make it. I actually made a combination of the above and this one

Basically I scooped out some coconut oil and put it in my handy Kitchen Aid Mixer and whipped it until it was nice and fluffy. I then added in some sugar and some lemon zest. and whipped it some more. It will make a lovely scrub and it is delicious. I’m not going to lie I did lick the beater. I did use some extra on my hands (the actual intended purpose) and they look lovely and feel soft.

So mom Happy’s Mothers Day! I love you more then I will ever be able to express. I am so lucky and proud to be your daughter and so grateful for the childhood and life you gave me.  I hope this scrub comes in handy after some good fun in the garden.
