I have been meaning to share this for a few days but the cold/ sickness has gotten the best of me. So here it is. I sometimes worry that all the fun little details will be lost in the hustle and bustle of life. We will do something have a marvelous time and then months or weeks or even sadly days later we have moved on and forgotten the enjoyment. So I covered an old coffee tin (my tins are actually cardboard) and wrote on it “If you’re happy and you know it write it down” I stuck it on our side board in our dinning room next to some pens and added a pad of paper. Little has now added a plethora of bright-colored post it notes there too.
The plan is to daily or as often as we think of it. To write what is making us happy. what we are grateful for and pop the note in the jar.
This goes beyond the family though as I am encouraging guests to use it as well. I plan to look at them and read them aloud on new years eve.
ok that’s it for today!
This year I have picked a different Goddess to work with each month
January is Athena
This is also by Susan Seddon Boulet
and Yes she is one of my favorite artists 🙂
This section is for Little
April’s focus for Little’s education (for lack of a better word) is the Earth and Nature. Fitting of course because we have earth day this month. Now don’t get crazy on me yes we pay attention to the Earth all year round
so I was cruising around pinterest and found a fun pin for an earth lantern. You can find the original blog with step by step pictures here.
But I do have a few pointers.
I got a map here and used it to trace out the land masses. Y’all know I can’t draw.
The finished piece is Little’s and will go on her nature table or in her room and so I am not willing to put a real live candle in it. I got a 3 pack of little LED tea lights at the dollar store. Much better for kids safety.
Little wanted to add a few more land masses. So there they are. Sure why not.
I know I wrote post on that already today but I was looking through my boards. (yes I actually use my boards, I don’t just pin everything in sight, well I do but then I use it) and found this

I am pretty sure this is going to be a scavenger hunt for items that we can then use to place on the eggs while we dye them. By the way I read somewhere that if you paint the back of the leaf with egg white it stays on much better. If you have no idea what I am talking about see my last post.
Well my dears it is almost that time of year. Most people seem to dread it but I don’t know I am warming up to the idea of a love day. Besides I love any excuse to celebrate! ANY!
So This is what I have up my sleeve.
As I have began to explore my creative side I decided to do some work on my BOS. I hear / read about a LOT of people who wont get started on theirs because they want it to be perfect. I was like that for a long time myself. Then I figured I might as well just do it or it would never get done. I gave myself permission to not be perfect and to make mistakes. This is a perfect example of that. Not that it was a mistake I just changed my mind. If you have seen the pictures of my BOS Then you will recognize (maybe) these next two photos. These are how the pages originally were done and after a time I decided I wanted to change them. Today I am sharing with you first of the pages.
I liked the page well enough but later I found this wonderful picture and I wanted to use it in my book. I put it in but it never felt right.
It felt like I had just thrown it in there. So last week I decided to do something about it. I very carefully removed it from the original page. Then I decided to paint the background kind of like space. First black and then specks of all different colors. You can see the flecks better in the last photo. I then pasted on the image and I am very happy with how it turned out.
And here is a close up of the new page
Hope you enjoyed and as always feel free to leave a comment with a link to any Masterpiece you would like to share.
This is Little’s Masterpiece She is really enjoying “smooshing” the paint between two pages and pour it out on a page. This particular art work has been drying for about 3 days, as it has the better part of her bottle of purple pain on it. I love watching her as she thoughtfully chooses her colors and where she wants their placement. This incidentally is not in her composition book journal. She had already done a smoosh page in that which was drying but wanted to keep painting and so this is the back or front (who can tell now) of a seed catalog that came in the mail to us.
I decided to try smooshing as well. I bought myself a beginners acrylics set of paints which I had never painted with before and experimented with them. So these pages kind of go together. they didn’t really have a theme beyond the colors.
This page has the paint and then some pictures I cute out of magazines as well as the key which is a sticker. This page says to me I am the sum of all my small steps and the key is to keep tying and keep moving forward because you can eat an elephant one bite at a time. Not sure if anyone is familiar with that saying but basically you can accomplish big things one small step at a time.
I am not sure what this page will be or what story it will tell when it is done. Right now I just like it.
Now it is your turn! Leave a comment below with a link to your Masterpiece! Then go and Hop around and take a look at other people’s masterpieces. Happy Monday 🙂
You may or may not know but I have been working on an art journal for me and Little makes one too in fact this beautiful button was made from one of her pages. The very kind Ms Lilypads suggested some sort of Blog party so here we are.

Little’s art journal pages
and mine 🙂
it is so much fun to do. I love that when you “mess up” a page you just put more paint on top and it becomes another page.
