That is called stealing

When you post something that is not yours, you need to cite your source. If you didn’t write it cite your source.

If the picture you post is not yours cite your source

If you used a recipe you found on another blog but made “a few tweaks to make it yours” which in reality you used someone else’s recipe and decided to do half a cup of brown sugar instead of raw  sugar that is not a new recipe and not only should you cite your source you should NOT share the recipe on your page. instead link to the original post and talk about your tweaks.

When you post on Facebook, cite your source.

When you post photos that are not your and claim that they and the crafts are yours or at least don’t say they are not so anyone readying would assume they are. That is called stealing.

Don’t steal your better than that. Cite your sources, give credit and links where due.

  1. Recipes are not protected by copyright laws… so posting a recipe found on another source is not considered stealing. Possibly unethical but not stealing

    • I see you point but I disagree. Many food sites produce cookbooks that are protected by copyright laws. so then you get into the nitty girity of it is ok to use this persons work as my own because I don’t think they have their own book out yet. Or the question of it is just stealing because they didn’t have a copyright? Or is it stealing because you took Something that is not yours and passed it off as yours? I know some people think oh well I put a link in to the other site (and some done even do that!) so i’m covered but wouldn’t we want others to give us credit if they took our work?

  2. saymber

I’ve been guilty in the picture department once in awhile but little else. I always try to cite my sources.

  3. Don’t ever go on Tumblr…

    • oh I know it drives me crazy when a pin leads me to tumbler. I always think well that was no help 🙂

      • LOL or FLICKR!!! I’m GUILTY!!! what can you do it’s a new age. Same thing happened with music. The 2 jobs I have people can take there is NOTHING I can do about it! I would tell your friend to put a watermark on her images. She can also imbed her information in the medidata of the image. I’m sure she probably knows but just in case! I loved her store she’s very creative! Your a good friend for defending her! I also LOVE your blog the images you choose are beautiful! Have a wonderful THU!

      • She does watermark her photos now. This was the second photo ever posted. The thing that was just ridiculous is that yes we all make mistakes but if someone said hey that’s mine can you credit me we would say oh so sorry of course. This particular FB page just deleted the comments that said hey that’t Velody’s . That said I know it will continue to happen to lots of people, it is just sad.

      • Yeah that’s a first class LOSER!!! I can’t think of why someone would do that other than there ego. It’s not cool at all! Your friend seems like a much nicer person that I am I would find ALL of their social stuff and all there friends LOL I can be vengeful.

      • I know! and also remind me to never make you mad LOL

      • We should combine our powers to do good in the world!!! We have to have a name… I’ll be the sidekick!
