shopping storm

The storm is back. I can tell I by the way I am thinking of this storm that I have been reading too much about Disc world. sigh.

So good and fun news I get to go shopping today! It is my favorite type of shopping too! I am mostly done with the gifts for my family Little is getting this

Hubs is getting some shoes and a kitchen gadget thing, and a game. He gets extra as it is also his birthday.

But on to the good shopping. Yesterday as I was waiting for my computer to load its 62 updates I called our local women’s shelter. I had seen the night before on Facebook, that they still had families that needed adopting. You adopt a family and they give you a wish list. They said there were two families left that needed adopting so I took them both.

Oh my it broke my little heart reading the wish list. The moms asked for gas cards and food gift cards and shoes for their kids.  See my family really has all it could need. We never go hungry, we never worry where our next meal will come from. We have warm coats and a roof over our head. One of the families doesn’t even have a place to call home.

OK enough with the tears. I can’t fix that. I can’t give them a home but I can help make a holiday better. I love this type of shopping. I love being able to get something for someone who will never know me. I get to be Santa!

When I was 4 or 5 our family friend was Santa for the local department store. They did promotion posters and I was in them as the kid that went to see Santa. My dear wonderful friend told me that while he was in the suit he was Santa. He was infused with the spirit of the season, Of Giving and generosity and love and magic. Not only did it make me still believe in Santa a child but I still believe as an adult! I watch people open their hearts and homes and give what they can and help out others and I know they are carrying out the spirit of Santa.

So if you could play Santa for anyone one what would you get them?
