Hi everyone and welcome to my little corner of the world. Pour yourself some tea and sit a while. I thought a lot about what to post on for this The Bewitching home blog party. I have been super excited since Tenae announced it, Being an (almost) Stay at home mom I am kind of in the throes of domesticity. It’s the life I lead day in and day out and speaking of that please visit my Book of Days for more day in and day out life. I finally decided to post about my daughter’s birthday.
Given that there might be some new folks visiting today let me just share a few things with you. I call my daughter Little she will be 3, and I very much dislike child birthday parties. Actually I dislike lots of parties like baby showers. It’s not that I don’t like to celebrate (I do!) It’s the structure of the majority of them I dislike. So how to throw a party for Little that will be fun for her and not make mama want to scream.
I decided on a fall carnival type party. Pumpkins and sugar for everyone!
<a note about the cupcakes I did not make them 🙂 sorry. One of my dear friends is an amazing baker and likes to make the cakes/ cupcakes for all the kiddos. She is without a doubt the best baker in town and better then the actual bakeries. It is what she loves to do and we love that she does it for us 🙂 This is what she said about the cupcakes: S’mores Cupcakes. Homemade toasted marshmallow frosting, a layer of graham cracker crumbs, melted chocolate crumbles, a layer of chocolate cake, another layer of chocolate and finally a crunchy graham cracker crust! I am not sure if she toasted the marshmallow frosting with a torch or in the broiler.>
We are going to paint pumpkins (you can get 40 mini pumpkins at Trader Joes for $28)
Do face painting. Kiddos got hearts and flowers and butterflies and Little got a kitty face.
Have pumpkin races by rolling them down our long steep driveway.
Make bird seed yummies for the birds.
When dry these rings just slip over branches.
And of course a pinata!
