A Gaia for Little

The BIG news that I have been keeping to myself (through an amazing amount of self-control) is ready to share! First you should know I am really, really bad at keeping a secret. Hubs and I have the worst time around the holidays We often end up exchanging gifts after a day of shopping instead of waiting. Second this doll is years in the making.

The Doll and the inspiration.

Here is my Gaia statue. I have posted about her before here. She is beyond beautiful and awe inspiring. She makes me feel peace.

Apparently she makes Little feel happy too. We went through a period of time where anytime Little was quiet (you know what that means) she would be standing in front of my altar touching her or holding my Gaia. She would try to carry her around the house. I caught her a few times cuddled up in my bed holding Gaia, This was not going to work for me. My Gaia is a statue and has some weight to it. I didn’t want Little dropping her and breaking a toe.

So I set about looking for a Gaia doll for Little. I mean how hard could it be to find a Mother Earth doll. Oh my stars! so hard! I looked everywhere I could think of and could not find anything like I was looking for. I didn’t find anything like a doll. The closest I was able to find was a small felt piece on Etsy. I think I searched for maybe a year or so before I decided I need to just find someone make it. Of course then I had to find the right person to make her.

Enter my friend Tracy. We talked back and forth about some ideas. I sent her pictures of the statue and she sent me pictures of the fabrics  I told her from the start that I trusted her and she had free reign to do what she liked. I think she outdid her self! What an amazing doll. This is the kind of doll my child will hand down to her child and that child will hand down to her child. Seriously when she arrived I was in awe. I cried. What no picture can share is that the doll feels kind of magical. There is that same calming effect as my Gaia statue and everyone that holds the doll doesn’t want to put her down.

This is Tracy’s description from her Etsy store; Hand crafted this 21 inch doll features hand embroidered face, each strand of hair hand sewn for added strength and tied off with gold thread much becoming an Earth Goddess. This heirloom quality doll was made with love for your Little love and will be enjoyed for years to come.

look at the beautiful hair! It is so beyond soft. Everyone who has held her ends up stroking it. Even my non-pagan friends want one. Through this journey of creating her Tracy has decided to open a shop on Etsy; Wee Pagan Pals, for these heirloom dolls based on different Goddess/ Gods. She is doing custom orders right now in time for Yule.If you have a little I can’t think of a better gift..You can also check out Wee Pagan Palls on Facebook. In the mean time comment below and let me know which Goddess/God you think she should make next!

Now you know the big surprise! A beautiful amazing Gaia doll for my Little’s birthday. If you’re wondering why I don’t have pictures of Little holding her or why I haven’t told you how much Little loves her it is because Little has not seen her yet. Her birthday is next week and this is her gift.
