About the time I discovered Pinterest I also discovered Waldorf. Mostly because there were really cool pictures of lanterns. and gnomes and fairies. Things wonderful and magical. It’s an education that takes in to account the spiritual and even though they have a set spiritual path, it fits in well with my different spiritual path. They celebrate the seasons and mark the calendar days with activities and stories and food like we do in our house.
I should say that just because I love a lot of what I found I still don’t know that much. I found interesting things on Pinterest which led me to interesting blogs which lead me to more interesting ideas. We, as in this family of mine, would never be able to be Waldorf for many reasons but just because somethings don’t work for us doesn’t mean we shouldn’t embrace the good.
Two things I gather are big Waldorf things are lanterns and watercolors. Above is my attempt to combine the two. I painted it in reds and yellows and oranges to get the Autumn feel and then decided to write an Autumn verse on it. I used a glass jar that was a pickle jar or sauce jar, and used modge podge to glue the paper on it. Just like in my candle magic post, I used normal computer paper. I light a small tea light and pop it in the jar and a lovely glow comes out.
Knowing what I know about me I will be making several more of these in the future. Magically speaking I think it would be fun to have one with our grace on it on the table and one with my morning prayer, and one with a house blessing, and on and on and on. You get the point.
In the meantime this is part of our mantle altar and our Autumn candle burning bright.
