The Littlest Druid

Once upon a time the Littlest Druid got an idea. She wanted to do something special for the feast of Lughnasadh. Her teacher had told them all about Lugh and his feast day. She knew it was a feast of thanksgiving to celebrate the first harvest of grain of the year. It had been a good long and warm summer so the corn and barley had grown strong and tall in the fields. Lughnasadh morning

This morning I was reading this post at The Witch of Howling Creek. It seemed like a good idea and so this morning Little and I made Corn bread muffins to celebrate. If you want a recipe follow the above link to Witch of Howling Creek.

and mixes (we decided to toss in a little Herbs de Provence)

She scooped them in to the pan and then we waited (almost) patiently for 25 minutes until they were nice and golden brown like this.

While they baked Little made a picnic spot. She ended up clearing a spot in the middle for our plates but all the pillows had to be touching making a circle. hummm

Finally it was time for our tea picnic Ginger Tea and warm cornbread muffins with butter and honey for our little celebration.

Little was very proud. She put the sun flowers into the vase all by herself. It is now on our mantle place altar. Happy Lughnasadh everyone!
