I am continuing my process of spring cleaning and life cleaning. I am looking at all things and activities and really everything in terms of does it fit into how we want our life to be. Right now I am needing to clean, evaluate and decide what goes and what stays.
This weekend I I finished Little’s toys and books. whew! there was a TON of things to go through.I finished the task this weekend but, I have been working on it for a few weeks. Here is her toy shelf for what is left.
On top of the shelves is her calm down basket which I made based on this one http://www.herewearetogether.com/2011/10/19/meditation-for-kids-dealing-with-anger-in-children-make-a-calm-down-basket/
I am hoping to turn the rest of the top in to a nature table.
The next shelf has two puzzles in the little red box, her Mr Potato Head set, and her cars/ trucks.
the bottom shelf has her dress up items, her blocks, her shape ball, and her ball.
In the end I think we were left with maybe 1/10th of what we started with. Some were put away to cycle out later and others were passed on. I can’t believe how many toys she had! She does not seem to miss any of the toys that are no longer there. She tends to play with what she has more and in a less manic way.
Speaking of to much, oh my but she had so many more books! Having always been an avid reader myself. I started collecting books for her literally the day we found out we were pregnant. We had duplicates of books. Even when I wouldn’t buy her a toy for no reason at all I might get a book. A book is different right? I have been trying to figure out what to do with all those books. I came across a couple of ideas and settled on the one below. Two baskets. One for the special books, the ones I know she loves and we read ALL the time. and then one basket for the seasonal/ themed books. At the moment we have Spring and Animal books in the other basket.
Simple. She is more able to pick up after herself, and if she can’t, it takes me much less time to do a sweep through house to wrangle all the toys and books back to where they need to be. Happy baby, Happy mommy.
What small victories have you accomplished this weekend?
