Voice mail and refrigerator salad

This is really just a post of randomness but I have not written in a few days and I am experiencing a bit of fatigue and over scheduling of my self. So i’m going to tell you about my favorite refrigerator salad, and then how to leave a voice mail cuz well i’m opinionated and it is a pet peve of mine. Salad first

This is what this weeks version looks like. I call it refrigerator salad because I make a large bowl of it and keep it in the bottom shelf of my fridge for several days until I eat it all. I have it for snacks and with dinner some nights (like tonight) but I always have it with my lunch.

To make the salad: quarter cherry tomatoes, chop cucumbers and avocado, add in corn and black beans. salt, pepper, little olive oil and a lot o of lemon juice ( I really like the lemon) I often have it with only the tomato/cucumber/ avocado and dressing and it is fantastic!

and not related at all…how to leave a voice mail.

OK not when your calling your bff but when your making any sort of call that could be thought of as professional. I am amazed by the voice mails I get. It is almost like peoples phones call you on there own, they had no idea they were going to call and so when faced with leaving a message they don’t know what to say. They seem surprised and unprepared to talk.

So when you call someone please have a purpose. Maybe you would like to chat, invite them to dinner, or your scheduling a appointment. At any rate step one is know your purpose. You also need to know your name, your number and if there is a deadline for when you need to hear back. If perchance you have gone out with friends and over indulged and you don’t know your name or number you should not leave a voice mail. Just hang up. Trust me! You also need your script and here it is 🙂

Hi this is firstname lastname, my number is xxx-xxx-xxxx. I am calling (to invite you to dinner next friday at 6pm, to schedual an appointment to have my teeth cleaned, See if the car is still for sale, etc) Please give me a call back at xxx-xxx-xxxx. thank you.

OK so if your calling your family/ friends it might not sound like this but if it is a more formal call it is so nice to give them the information about what it is you want and to enunciate your phone number, twice.  I know, I know i’m a little crazy but as you know I’m good with that 🙂 happy calling

  1. And say it slow enough that the person at least has a chance to write it down without re-playing the message 14 times.
