Nothing says I love you like..

Nothing says I love you like, well many things.  It depends on the person what says “i love you” to them.  With Valentines day around the corner I thought we could talk a little bit about expressing our love. As you know I love food. My BFF still jokes with people that they better be careful if they feed me they have me for life. She and I meet in a gym class in junior high and our first bonding moment was spent around her kitchen table with tortilla chips.

When my husband was wooing me, but before we were serious. He invited me over for dinner. He lived in a bachelor pad studio apartment. It had no stove or oven. So when he invited me over and told me he would be making dinner, I was a little skeptical.  He made an amazing dinner on the BBQ. T bone steaks, yams and asparagus. I decided to get serious about him after that!

This is me though, and while good food says “I love you” to a lot of folks It may not be their preferred way. The best way to find out what some one likes is to ask them. Their answer may surprise you.  It is also nice to observe people. Do you know your sweeties (or bffs, or  moms) favorite sandwich? what about favorite coffee? details like this really do matter.

You may be one of those people who can keep all those details in your head, but I can’t. I find a small note book with key information about people is helpful. I mean I can order a drink or sandwich for my hubby and for Little but the more people you have to remember for the harder it gets. It is also a great for keeping pesky details like favorite colors and sizes.

In general time and attention always say “I love you.” It tells them you value you them. This may mean doing things you don’t like to do. As an example. I dislike TV. A lot. My husband dose not feel the same way. Often I stay with him in the living room watching a program with him because while I dislike tv, I like my husband. If a show is important to him then I can be interested in it for the sake of him.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying I think I should be a Stepford wife, vapid and only there to serve my man. I am saying that treating the special people in your life special is an act of love. Reciprocity is necessary for the love to bloom. Make sure you loved one knows what says I love you to you. Maybe at dinner tonight you can go around the table and ask everyone to fill in the sentence

magical pictures

Last night I was so tired. I am still not sure why but I was just spent. I thought I need to write in my bolg. I must write in it today. Its the day to write about magic. Of course my tired brain said “well I can’t think of anything to write.” so I stared at the blank sheet for a while and then decided to go play with my new obsession Pinerest.com. I pined 3 things then called it a night.

As I was falling asleep I was berating myself for not writing and trying to think of something to write about. How hard can it be? Magic is in everything so just pick anything. Then it hit me! My pin board or goal posters are magic. I will talk about that.

Before I had Little I was a Professional Beauty Consultant with Mary Kay. I loved it. It was such a fun mix of accomplishment and being celebrated and just a lot of really wonderful women. It also taught me a lot. One of the things we did was goal posters or vision boards. Some people did them every month or every quarter and some just did it every year, but we all made them.

If you have never made one you should. In fact i’m thinking I might do one now. I am also thinking that it would be a great activity for new years day. The posters can be big or small and they can have anything you want to achieve on them. You can cut out photos from magazines, you can draw, you can write on them.  Mine were always a lot of collage, because well I just really like that medium.  They also can be about anything. My two “virtual” pin boards that I spend the most time on are my kitchen redo one and my garden one. Which of course are the things I working on the most in our home.

So how does the magic work? Well first each choice of picture or word is you seeing your intention and voicing it. There is so much magic in the voicing and acknowledgement of your intentions. When doing magic we are visualizing the outcome. The stronger you can see it the stronger the magic.  A vision board is a very strong visual. Once made you can either do a circle just for it or bring it to a full moon circle. If you don’t do it on the full moon, make sure you do time it with the moon.  Show your work to the Goddess and God and talk to them about it and what the pictures mean to you. remember to take time to sit and be and listen. You then want to post your vision board somewhere you will look at it daily. What you think about, you bring about.

This can be lots of fun so enjoy and if you make one that you want to share be sure to send it to me and I will put it up.
