Tuesday names comes to us form old Latin (Via old English) for Mars. Mars of course is the Roman God of War. Now while bloodshed is not something I am found of ( i faint, not cute!) I do believe in standing up for oneself.
In what ways do you feel you could stand up for yourself better?
How can being a witch make you feel stronger and more empowered?
Are there any topics that you would like to read about?
If I may, the name of Tuesday actually comes from the Germanic/Norse God of War and Justice (who was linked to Mars by the Roman) by the name of Tyr. Thus, it was Tyr’s Day, or Tyrday, which later became Tuesday.
An excellent point, and thank you for your feedback!
I was not going to far in to how the actual day came about but language is a fascinating thing and always good know about. If you look it up on Wiki it says this:
“The English name is derived from Old English Tiwesdæg and Middle English Tewesday. This was a loan translation of Latin dies Martis, originally associating the day with the planet Mars. The Germanic name translates Mars, the god of war, as Teiwaz (Old English Tiw).”
To tell you the truth the way I think about days is by their Spanish name which is closer to Latin then say English. So for me Monday – Sunday looks like this
Lunes, Martes, Meircoles, Jueves, Veirnes, Sabado Domingo. Other then Sunday and Monday which are are fairly easy to see the celestial body that is their name sake seeing it in Spanish makes it all make a lot more sense to me.
