new years ritual

I don’t often post rituals but I thought I would share this one with you. I wrote it last year (based on the one that I do) for my student. If you recall last year there was a full lunar eclipse on the solstice and it was very powerful, and in the case of my student to much to ignore. She describes it as the day she “woke up and realized she was a Witch” So this is meant to be a ritual for a new person but works just as well for those of us who have been in the craft a little longer. I hope you enjoy and if you do please comment or let me know. I am never sure if posting rituals is something you all would like or not so if you do let me know.

For New Years

you will need:

White or pink candle (doesn’t have to be fancy can be a tea candle)

Bowl of salt

Broom (can be kitchen broom)

New Years eve clean up the house as best you can, as you clean feel out your house. What is the energy like in the different places?

Before any ritual you get to take a nice bath. This can be as long or as short as you like. So take a soak. Pinch of sea salt in the tub. Get in the right mind set and ready to set intention while in the tub. You should feel peaceful, relaxed but energetic. Above all you should feel happy and thankful. When you get out of the tub dress in any manor you feel comfortable. Gather your tools mentioned above. You want to bless and consecrate each one. Basically take some deep breaths close your eyes and feel the energy in your body. Put your hand out over them or hold them in your hand and pour love into them. The candle can be lit at anytime and over it list (as detailed as possible) all the things that you are grateful for in the past year

At midnight or around there if you are out for the event, throw the coins into the house and then take the broom and sweep out the house. This doesn’t have to be really sweeping it can even be an inch or so above the floor it is a sweeping of energy. If you found spots during the cleaning that didn’t feel right concentrate a little more there. You want to visualize a bright light gleaming every where. After you have swept take the salt and “seal” all the openings to your house. To do this sprinkle some salt across the thresholds or bottoms of windows and ask the Goddess and God to protect you and you love ones and keep those who do not wish you well out.

Go to sleep happy

Bright Blessings to you and may you have a wonderful new year.
