making a physical book of shadows-random tangents

More meanderings of the the physical book of shadows I am making. I have decided to separate them in to several books. At the moment I am thinking of having a Book of Shadows Celebrations and rites. A book of Flora, Fauna and the natural world and a Book of Magic. I may have to have a book of the home but I am not sure. I am still contemplating all that. I am going to be working on some of the pages today so I kind of want to make sure my ideas are cemented. I am figuring that this is my “mother” book and I will probably end up making yet another one for my crone self later in life.

on another tangent I think I am going to use the sketch book that I have and past things into it and then make a cloth cover for it that I embroiderer and attach several ribbon book marks to it. Maybe 5 for the five points on the start and a small charm on the end for each point. ie. stone or pine cone for earth, sea shell for water. feather for air and I don’t know what for fire or spirit yet.

morning prayer

I “wrote” this this morning while I was out in the back yard with the dog. If you have read a lot of Wicca books you will regonize the first two lines. They are not mine but from a Scott Cunningham book. They are part of an invocation to the elements but they seemed appropriate here.

“Air, Fire, Water. Earth. Elements of Astral birth join us on this blessed day.

We thank the God for lighting our way.

The Goddess smiles down from above teaching us to walk in love.”

I think that walking in love is one of the hardest thing that we have to strive to do. It is easy to say “in perfect love and perfect trust” or “an thou harm none” but then faced with the daily life of people cutting us off on the road or someone who has a different political view then us, or hurtful words from someone else. It is in these times we really need to remember to treat others with love and respect.
