Lughnasadh 2011

We did our ritual yesterday as it was Sunday and everyone could spend more time together. It was a little crazy, but quite lovely, and just what I needed. The hostess witch set up the circle in her back yard. She had candles to make the four directions and pieces of straw that marked the rest of the boundary. She cast the circle by calling the elements in a beautiful way and it was lovely. I did have a toddler who was squirmy but refusing to nap. She kind of walked around going from one of us to the next. It was nice to have that as an option and even a little cute. The Hostess said Little was casting her own circle as she made her way around us.  We all took part and said/ read our sections and it was a great time. My part was not necessarily part of Lughnasadh but it was for my mom and it was needed. Since I wrote it I can actually share it with you all.

We had gotten my mom small amethyst items.  It ended up being a small chunk of Amethyst and a ring and a necklace. We put them in a bag. I held the bag up and said.

“God and Goddess

where there should be five, there are only four,

We are grateful that she is alive but we ask for more.

Please infuse this gifts with your healing power.

let her have a full recovery, and grow stronger and more sure by the hour.

Into these vessels we pour our energy and love, and thank you for pouring down your blessings on her from above.”

I then passed the little bag around and each Witch had a chance to hold it to their heart and give their own personal blessings.  This was very moving for me and actually brought me to tears. The tears were unexpected with no a chance to hold them back. All of a sudden they were just there and leapt out. You never can quite guess what will happen in a circle and since you are safe and among your nearest and dearest it is all ok.

Because Lugh is the God of Crafts we had decided to do a craft project after the ritual. We had popcorn and tea and worked on a collage based on the book soul collage http://www.soulcollage.com/. It was incredibly fun and very meaningful. I cute out a lot of images but only got a card partially done. It did get our creative juices going and we are going to start working on the cards on an ongoing basis. I highly recommend you check out the site and check out the gallery!

All and all it was a wonderful day and not maybe exactly what we thought it would be but it was what we needed.

Bright Blessings
