The Beginning

To often when students seek knowledge in books, or occult stores, they are told we worship the God and Goddess. Set your altar up like this. The four directions mean this all quick, quick, quick. For some reason the whole point of Wicca of religion or spirituality gets left behind. Students want to do magic or make sure they know which herb to use when and these are all important things but they miss the heart.

We worship a God and Goddess, we strive for a deep relationship with them. A relationship that is so personal that no two people will experience it the same way. It is often referred to as the Wiccan Mysteries. I think it may be believed that over time you will experience and understand it. But I think lets start at the heart.

We celebrate life and the blessings of the God and Goddess with the Sabbaths and Estabats and through our daily life. We celebrate our blessings every day in a million ways. Every act can be in accordance of devotion this leads to a joyous and blessed life and keeps us in tune with the earth, ourselves and the God and Goddess. They are the heart. Your relationship with them is the foundation on which everything else is built. As in all things the stronger the foundation the stronger the building.

To build this relationship it will take time but you can start it out like all relationships. Introduce yourself. Tell them about your life and how you came to look for them. Start talking to them and thanking them for your blessings. Think of each one of these conversations, these communications as a string. The more strings you have, the thicker the rope, the stronger the bind to the God and Goddess. Take time to experience nature and to meditate because you will hear them speak to you. The more you talk and the more you listen the stronger your relationship will be. Be in nature, be away from electronics, be quite, just be. You will hear them. You do not need others to tell you what they think or say because you will know what they say to you. Others maybe able to guide you to places to see things or books to help you understand something, but in the end it is your relationship and you will know what is best for you. You may find a place where you can hear them very easily. Where you can sense their presence. This is a good place to set up altar of some type and leave them offerings. An offering can be a poem or song you wrote, or a piece of bread you made or a flower or a rock. Simple from the heart. And this should go with out saying but never something like a sacrifice. Our reed, what we live by is An thou Harm None Do What Though Wilt. I will talk much more about this but do no harm.

If you are in a foul mood or bad place. Take time to count at least 3 blessings. If you have to do it every hour or every 15 minuets do it. It will only take a moment and with each acknowledgment you add another string to the rope that binds you and the God and Goddess. An example is “God and Goddess Thank you for my life. Thank you for the sun thank you for the phone call from my good friend, I love you” It does not need t be elaborate, written in prose or done with extravagant tools or rituals. Your certainly can do all of those things if they speak to you but the God and Goddess love you for you in your true form.
