Magic from A-Z starting with A

A Little about my practice and beliefs on the subject first. Also since I plan to do A-Z spells I am linking this to the 2013 Pagan Blog project.

First is first I have talked about magic before and you can find a lot of my thoughts here in my Book of Magic.

I tend to practice kitchen witchery or folk magic. I do sometimes do “big formal” magic but most of the magic I do is part of my everyday life. Which of course is what I am all about. Life is magic. When I need a specific spell I tend to write them myself. I have done magic for and with all types of people from all types of faiths. My spells often tend to sound a lot like nursery rhymes because that is what works with the way I am at this moment in life. If you have a spell that you are looking for or want feel free to email me at Poppyunderhill at gmail dot com. Also I am a believer in “An thou harm none”

So today we are on A and I am going to give you a simple every day type spell.

Affirmations

. My coven uses this as part of our Full Moon magic but it can be done anytime. An affirmation has three aspects.

  1. It is positive. It is in the positive tense it is stating what you will to be.
  2. It is present tense. You are saying it is so, so it will be so.
  3. It is personal. It is about you and only you.

Some examples of affirmations: looking for a good job? “I am employed at a wonderful company with full benefits” trying to get pregnant? “I am pregnant”. As you can see “I am” is the powerful important part of this magic. You can do this with candles if you like. light a candle of the appropriate color to your need and state your affirmation as you light it. You can do the same with incense or you can just say the words.

For the brave souls among my readers if you leave me your affirmation in the comments. I will light a candle for you and send you some intention as well :)

  1. I’ll bite! :) Here’s an example of the affirmations that I use:

I am a human being worthy of stability, safety and opportunity.
I am neither invisible nor powerless.
I am a good person, with a kind heart and important work to do.
May others be able to see that my intentions are pure, and treat me with loving kindness.
May I prosper and thrive in harmony, strength, health and joy at the side of my beloved.

    • I like it and I will light a candle for you dear one. How would it feel if you changed the middle part to I am visible and Powerful? keeping it all positive? They are your words and they have to be right for you so feel free to disregard my opinions. you ARE powerful!

      • Thank you so much! :) Y’know, that’s a good point. When I first wrote the affirmations this set evolved from, I was having particular issues where the wording made sense. Thankfully, the situation has evolved.

  2. I also think life is magic. I work much the same way but am solitary.

Ooh, I have one that would help ease a bunch of stress for me:

I am a very wealthy woman both literally and figuratively.

Okay, I know it is not fair to do a lotteryish thing, but dangit, I gotta try!
